alonnisos, greece - swimming morning noon and night

Every morning in Greece, we woke up to warm sunlight streaming through the window and the bright azure Adriatic beckoning.

As soon as we opened our eyes, we were pulled on swimsuits and headed down for a morning dip.

Or, a morning snorkel. To each his own.

I did my best Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition pose for my official submission to the Miss Alonissos 2015 calendar.

Unbelievably beautiful, wild coast.

And the clearest water I've ever seen in my life.

We swaddled up in towels and sunned ourselves dry on big rock before packing up and heading out to...

Swim and lounge at the beach, of course.

The water was so cold, and the air was so hot -- thus, sit half in the water, half in the blazing sun.

We brought along a box of Greek treats from a bakery in town, including spanakopita (spinach-filled savory pastry).

There's only so long you can sit and roast without shade in 120' heat, so once we were nice and crimson we decided to head into the old town to explore a bit.

In July heat, during siesta, we had the town -- and all of its gorgeous alleys, bright flowers, and janked-up motorcycles -- to ourselves.

I have a matching photo from Munich, also taken by Alex, of Susan and I prepping for a photo -- I love this.

Greece is absolutely overrun with cats in the way that Southern Italy is overrun with dogs. You know which team I'm on there.

The ladies. Susan and Lauryn had damn adjoining rooms and matched their outfits every day and I was totally the out of place sucker. Every day.

Alex always initiates these photos himself, and then says, "Delete that picture." Who's the sucker now, Schatz?

Extremely informative and useful map, Greece.

Golden hour was approaching, which meant I needed to get home for my extremely pressing appointment:

As it got darker, we cleaned ourselves up and packed into the car for the short drive to Steni Vala.

Thank you thank you to Andrew for this snap. 13 years & 6 countries traveled together, still going strong.

And ended the night with mojito's at Liza's, of course!

A million thanks to Liza and her boyfriend for treating us like family and making round after round after round of the freshest, most incredible mojitos I've ever had. We already can't wait for the next round!
